Year 5 and 6 visited our local war memorial at St Paul's Church in Winlaton. We visited the memorial as part of our learning through the Creative Curriculum. At the moment, we are learning all about World War 2.

We walked to the memorial and looked at the names of local soldiers who died during World War 1 and 2. We then produced some sketches of the memorial. After that, we walked through the cemetry and identified the graves of soldiers who died during World War 2. We could see their names, regiment and other details.

We found out that Winlaton had lots of soldiers who served and died during World War 2 and that it is important that we pay our respects to those brave soldiers.
