Recent Ofsted Inspection December 2010
Dear Parents/Carers,
Please find attached a copy of the Ofsted report following our inspection in December.
We are pleased with the report which describes Parkhead as a school with: ‘many good features providing a positive climate for pupils to learn, which is well demonstrated in the good quality of care, guidance and support’.
The care and welfare of our pupils is of paramount importance to us and we are delighted that the inspection team have identified this as a real strength of the school. The report states that: ‘Staff know pupils very well, enabling them to provide good quality care and pastoral support.’
Our pupils are a credit to us all. The Ofsted report states that: ‘the pupils engage cooperatively with each other; they behave well and want to take part in the activities the school offers.’ They demonstrate positive attitudes to learning enjoy school and are well motivated to learn.
We have placed high priority on raising levels of progress for all pupils across the school and as a result of this the progress pupils make has improved along with attainment. We now need to ensure this is consistently good across the school and challenging activities are planned. The areas for development outlined by the Ofsted team match those already identified by the school and the leadership and management team are focussed on driving these improvements further.
I am privileged to lead a highly skilled and motivated staff team who work very hard for the benefit of our pupils. You can be assured that we will continue to strive to further develop all areas of school life to ensure that every pupil achieves the very best they can.
As a school we highly value the contribution parents and carers make to all aspects of school life and would like to thank you for your continued support.
Yours faithfully,
P M Bailey
