Happy World Book Day!

March 2, 2017

Thank you everyone for the fantastic effort you have made to celebrate World Book day.

The annual celebration of authors, illustrators and reading is marked in more than 100 countries around the world.

The main aim of World Book Day is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading by providing them with the opportunity to have a book of their own.

Mrs Leach started the day with an assembly talking about the theme for World book day this year.

The Library Bus is officially open!

November 13, 2015

Rob Lewis visited our school today as part of the Northern Children’s book festival and officially opened our new ‘Library Bus’, cutting the ribbon. Everyone has had a wonderful day and parents and children have been visiting the library all afternoon and listening to stories. The school came up with a creative solution to solve their library space and found an old Canadian ‘blue bird’ bus and converted it into a library bus. The school and community fundraised £10,500 towards the refurbishments, we obtained a grant for £5000 from the FOYLE FOUNDATION for books as well as  Gateshead community fund who provided £1000 towards the furniture.
