reading Together in KS1

A Love of Reading

We love reading and feel that every child should too.  Once a half term each child, from year 1 onwards, enjoys visits Winlaton library, where they are guided in selecting a book of their own choice to bring back to school and enjoy reading during their independent reading time.

We are very proud of our library bus which has given children more opportunity to immerse themselves in a book during playtimes and lunchtimes.  With the support of our capable librarian they learn about the works of different authors in a calm, cosy environment.  The library is run by the children. It is a great chance to further build upon some of the key life skills we teach in our school!

We believe the transformation of The Bus is not only a great use of old resources but a wonderful way to encourage children to read!
The Library Bus was officially opened November 13th 2015 by children’s author, Rob Lewis when he visited school as part of the Northern Children’s book festival.
