School Uniform

It is mandatory for all children at Parkhead to wear the agreed school uniform.

Our uniform consists of:

• Red sweatshirt or cardigan with the Parkhead logo

• White polo shirts – can be purchased with Parkhead logo on or from any retail outlet

• Grey skirts/trousers

• Black shoes

• P.E. kit purchased from the school office or House T shirt and black shorts or jogging pants (every child receives a free house T-shirt when they start school)

• Summer dresses for girls may be worn and they should be red checked

• We hold a small stock of school uniform in the school office or you can order if online or from the school office. The uniform provider offers a great free service embroidering jumpers and cardigans with your child’s name on, but please ensure all other items are named too.

• Each child will need a pair of plimsolls for some PE lessons and to change into in bad weather if they have had to wear boots or wellingtons.

• In Foundation Stage and key stage 1 we would also like to suggest that a spare underwear be kept in school. This means that if you child should have an ‘accident’ he/she can be changed into a pair of his/her own pants.  However, for emergencies, the school does have a small supply of clothes and we would ask that if your child comes home wearing these you will wash, iron and return them as soon as possible.

• No jewellery is allowed.  You will be contacted by the school office if your child arrives in school wearing earrings – if they are unable to be removed, due to health and safety,  your child will remain indoors for playtimes and be exempt from PE lessons.

Other things to know!

  • No jewellery
  • No trainers (apart from within PE lessons)
  • No nail varnish
  • No make up
  • No mobile phones (on arrival, children hand in phones to the office for safe keeping)
  • Please bring towel, trunks or one-piece costume for swimming in year 4 – no baggy swimming shorts
  • All children will require wellies, waterproofs and suitable old clothing for their annual 5-6 week programme of Forest Schools in our onsite woodland (see the Forest School section for more information).
