Transition to Reception September 2020

September 5, 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

REMINDER – Transition to Reception September 2020

I hope this letter finds you all well and safe at home and supports you in preparing your child to join our Reception unit in September. An extra warm welcome to those children and families joining us from other nursery settings. We look forward to getting to know you and your children and welcoming them into our happy school.

Individual Outdoor Stay and Play Visits

Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th September

Prior to the holidays we invited parents to book individual outdoor stay and play sessions on Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th September so new families and children can meet the staff and explore our wonderful outdoor provision.

We do have a limited number of slots remaining, if you would like to organise a visit please call the School Office or email to book a convenient time.

Getting to know you Transition Sessions

Wednesday 9th September and Thursday 10th September

Prior to the holidays all parents received a letter with details of which Transition session your child was allocated.

The session times are as follows.

· Morning Session: 9.30am – 12.00pm including lunch

· Afternoon Session: 1.00pm – 3.00pm

Mrs Armstrong’s Class Wednesday 9th September: am session Thursday 10th September: pm session

Mrs Kirby and Mrs Hutton’s Class Wednesday 9th September: pm session Thursday 10th September: am session

These shorter sessions will allow the staff to support children within the classroom and build relationships with them to ensure all children get off to a successful start. We know these shorter sessions can be challenging for working parents but feel they are really important to support the longer term wellbeing and success of children moving forward.

Friday 11th September

All children will attend for the full session.

The following times for ‘drop-off’ and collection will apply from FRIDAY 11th September

Drop-off: From 8.45 to 9 am

Pick-up: From 3.00 – 3.10

Please ensure that you ‘socially distance’ from other parents at ‘drop-off’ and pick up times and that you follow the one-way systems in place.

We ask that only one adult per child does ‘drop-off’ and pick up to reduce congestion around the site and to keep our community safe.

If you have any questions about any information in this letter, please do get in touch. All of the reception staff are very experienced in supporting transition to school and we have put lots of thought into how to make this unique transition work for our children.

We are looking forward to working together in September and can’t wait to get to know our new classes.

Kind Regards,

Mrs Hutton
