At Parkhead Community Primary School, we are fully committed to providing quality opportunities for children to work remotely from home. 

The introduction of remote learning during the pandemic presented significant challenges and required adaptability and resilience. The Seesaw app became an effective platform for facilitating remote education for our pupils. In the event of future disruptions to education, we will adopt a suitable learning platform and promptly communicate with parents and carers.

Teachers will be responsible for:

Setting work:

• Each day, students will have access to one task in mathematics and English, along with an additional task in another subject. These subjects will be selected based on the long-term planning schedule for foundational subjects. Basic skills activities, such as TTRS, handwriting practice, and daily reading, will also be expected. Additionally, suggestions for general health-related activities or resources, such as fitness sessions or mental health activities, may be provided. 
• Work will be assigned using the designated school app. If this is not feasible, a pre-prepared paper-based pack may be distributed. This may be collected by parents or carers, posted, or emailed, depending on the specific circumstances.
• Some tasks will be differentiated to address the varying needs of pupils.

Providing feedback on work: 

• Any paper packs will be returned to the teacher upon your childs' return to school. 
• Feedback will be provided at least once a week through the designated school app.
• Teachers will maintain regular communication with parents, at least weekly, via email or phone call.

Practical tips for supporting learning:

Routines and expectations: 

• It is advisable to maintain normal bedtime and morning routines.
• Schedules may be adjusted to accommodate everyone's needs, but it is important to avoid defaulting to late nights and sleeping in. 
• Create a timetable with your child and adhere to it, including breaks for movement, snacks, and rewards. -
• Start with shorter sessions and gradually increase the duration if the child has difficulty concentrating.

Choose a conducive learning environment: 

Establish a designated space for school-related activities that is: -

• Quiet 
• Free from clutter 
• Removed from distractions, such as television and phones 
• Set up at a table with a comfortable chair

Support children with their learning:

• Regularly check in with your child and discuss their learning progress. 
• Offer support and encouragement.
