Elm - Click here to see what we have been learning

Autumn 1

How the children in Elm class have matured over the course of the first half term has been astounding.

To begin with, we spent time getting to know one another and adjusting to our new space and our new routine. Once we started to feel more settled in our new environment, we focused more on our learning.

In science, we learned about the human body, naming the different parts and learning more about our senses. The children particularly enjoyed the experiments where they carried out a sniff test and a taste test.

The children have loved their Thursday morning P.E. lesson - what a great way to start the day. They were practicing their ball skills - rolling, dribbling and passing.

We have enjoyed the stories 'The Colour Monster', which enabled us to understand and discuss our emotions, and 'The Little Red Hen'. The children did a fabulous job of retelling the story of 'The Little Red Hen' and we enjoyed considering how we could learn some simple life lessons from this story; you cannot expect to enjoy the good things in life without putting in some effort and helping out!
