National School Sports Week is back for 2023, and this year we want to make sure that all our children are active for the recommended minimum time of 60 minutes a day.

Summer Fayre Donations

We are on the look out for donations for the upcoming Summer Fayre.

If anyone could donate any of the following items it would be greatly appreciated:

*Teddies in good condition for the teddy tombola

*Raffle prizes in good condition

*Bottles for the bottle tombola

Please drop any items off at the school office.

We are also arranging a table top sale where you can purchase a table from £5.00 to then sell your goods. If you would like to purchase a table please contact the school office.

Cherry class had the most amazing time at the Washington Wetlands Centre. They were invited as part of the Generation Wild project to connect with nature. Throughout the day we appreciated the nature around us by making birds nests, visiting the different birds and animals and considering what we can do to look after our environment

Year 3 had a great time at Kingsmeadow on Wednesday. Our athletes took part in a sprint, vortex howler throw, a 400m run and a standing long jump. They showed determination and resilience as well as a great team spirit as they competed against other Gateshead Schools.

We are delighted to let you know that Mrs Lane applied and successfully secured funding for just over £50,000 from ‘Rise - Sport England’s Opening School Facilities’ to open up the school grounds

outside of the normal school day (evenings, weekends and holidays). This will allow young people more opportunities to participate in extra-curricular physical activity and sporting opportunities.

We have been successfully purchased a bike track, BMX bikes, scooters, all safety equipment and storage which will allow us to run various clubs in the near future.

Year 6 really enjoyed their virtual session with the Air Force’s STEM Superstars. We found out all about their roles and how our school values of cooperation, resilience and responsibility are used in their profession to help them do their jobs.

What a fantastic time our children have had at the Great North Children’s Hospital 5a-side football tournament, held at Newcastle United’s Academy. Their attitude, behaviour, footballing skills and teamwork shown throughout was outstanding. They played some great football and made it all the way to final, narrowly losing 2-1 with pretty much the last kick of the game. A fantastic achievement! 

Thanks to our amazing school community, SPLAT have been able to fund the installation of some outdoor fixed play equipment for our children to enjoy!

Our Key Stage 2 children have had a fantastic time at Saltwell Park  Gateshead School Fun Run! They then enjoyed a picnic in the sunshine and games in the park.

What a fun time we had at our Stay and Play this afternoon. It was lovely to see our families enjoying time in our OPAL environment together
