The “coin war” fundraiser is well underway and the competition is hotting up! Some classes already have a jar half full of coins! We’ve even heard some of the children discussing what they’d like to spend their winnings on should their class be victorious!

MASSIVE THANK YOU to those who’ve contributed so far.

We would be extremely grateful if you could send in any small change you have to help your child’s class fill their jar!

  • Parent Governor Vacancy

Fri 09 Sep 2022 Miss Bulman

We currently have a vacancy for a Parent Governor on our School Governing Board.

School Governors have a varied and important role.  They have 3 core functions:

    • Planning the strategic direction of the school
    • Overseeing financial performance of the school and ensuring money is well spent
    • Holding the Head Teacher or school leadership to account

The governor role is strategic rather than operational. Governors don’t get involved with the day to day running of a school, instead supporting and challenging the school’s leadership team to drive forward school improvement.

You can find out more about our Governing Body on our school website:

Governors and Finance | Parkhead Community Primary School (parkheadprimary.org)

If you have any questions about the role, or have a genuine interest in joining us, please contact the school office.

  • School Games Bronze Mark

Fri 09 Sep 2022 Miss Bulman

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the School Games Bronze Mark Award for the 2021/22 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward and recognise school’s engagement (provision and uptake) in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of physical activity and school sport. We are committed to using the School Games to try and engage those young people who haven’t previously been active or represented our school, and to try and ensure that all our students have a positive experience and want to try out new activities beyond school too in our community.

We believe in the power of physical activity and school sport as a school and give opportunities to those young people that need it most either as a participant, leader, official or volunteer. As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas linked to the five School Games outcomes and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

A huge thank you to Mrs Bewley, as our PE Co-ordinator for her work in this area and to Mrs Thompson for being an advocate for sport across the whole school.

  • Community Corner

Fri 09 Sep 2022 Miss Bulman

Thank you so much for all of the donations so far, for our Community Corner.

Moving forward, you are welcome to pop in between 8.30am – 9.00am and again between 3.00 – 3.30pm each week day to browse the wide selection of uniform/clothing items and to take what you need. A reminder that we also have a small food bank.

Feel free to take anything you need from the room which is accessible via the Nursery path. We will be grateful of any further uniform donations if your child grows out of something during the year, or if you feel able to add an extra item on to your weekly shopping at any point.

A huge thank you to Miss Cummings, Mrs Dodds, Mrs Thompson, Mrs Hawthorn and Mrs Lane for making the environment so welcoming.

Please encourage our re-use, reduce, recycle initiative in our local community.

  • Her Majesty

    Fri 09 Sep 2022

It was with great sadness that the nation heard the news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth at Balmoral on Thursday 8 September 2022.

We held a whole school assembly this morning to celebrate the life of the Queen and pay respect to her dignified service to our country.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the Royal Family at this time.
