The Dogs Trust
Fri 30 Sep 2022On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, we welcomed Rachel; Education Officer from the Dogs Trust in to school to teach us about how to ‘Be Dog Smart’ in our local community.
It is a delight to share with you the feedback from Rachel and her team in relation to their visit to Parkhead:
‘I would like to take this opportunity to compliment the children’s behaviour, they were amazing! They were so enthusiastic about the learning, every single class listened so well and all of the children were so well mannered and polite. It really was a pleasure teaching them all.’
Well done everyone!

Tres Bien!
Fri 30 Sep 2022Monday was European Languages Day! Children across school learned some new words in French, and also had the opportunity to taste some delicious french cuisine! There were baguettes, quiche lorraine, brie, camembert and croissants to name a few! Snails and frog’s legs did not make the menu shortlist even though they are a delicacy in France! The quiche lorraine was our overall favourite and the day itself was tres bien!

Fantastic Football
Fri 23 Sep 2022Three cheers for our school football team who played their first match of the season last night! The rain didn’t dampen their spirits, and they came third overall (winning one match, drawing one and narrowly losing two). Mrs Thompson is very proud and you are an absolute credit to Parkhead. Fantastic team work, resilience and skills. The team looked super smart in our new kit as well.

Goodbye Your Majesty
Fri 23 Sep 2022On Monday, the world ground to a halt on the additional Bank Holiday to say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth II at her state funeral and to celebrate her selfless public service throughout her 70-year reign.
The procession was incredible and an absolute privilege to watch. The honour and respect for Queen and Country was admirably portrayed by our military forces throughout the whole day. They did the UK proud and depicted strength in our united front.

Community Corner
Fri 16 Sep 2022A reminder that our ‘Community Corner’ is open for half an hour each day before and after school.
We have a fantastic selection of school uniform including shoes, coats etc, all of which are free to a good home. Please help yourself to anything you need. Our food bank is bursting at the seams as well with some key staple ingredients to make some simple meals.
Thank you for all of the donations to make this project a success for our local community.
Thinking ahead to upcoming events and seasons changing, we would be grateful to receive any donations of Halloween costumes, Christmas jumpers, wellies and children’s winter coats.

Year 6 Residential Visit to Robinwood Activity Centre, Alston
Fri 16 Sep 2022Our Year 6 children visited Robinwood Activity Centre in Alston for a two-night residential visit this week. Children (and staff) had an absolute blast! As always, the staff at Robinwood planned lots of exciting and engaging activities. The children showed resilience, great teamwork, friendship and their behaviour was exemplary – an absolute credit to Parkhead. Well done everyone! A huge thank you to Mrs Mordue, Mrs Murtagh and Mrs Peebles for attending this visit – without the dedication and commitment of our staff, we would be unable to host fantastic extra-curricular experiences such as these for our children.
