  • Magnificent Music!

Fri 21 Oct 2022 Miss Bulman

We are delighted to have been recognised for our music provision at Parkhead.  We have received the below feedback:

‘Your school has been invited by your Music Service to become a Music Mark School. They have recognised the value that you place on music and asked us to add you to the growing network of Music Mark Schools we support across the UK as a Music Subject Association. We would like to thank you for all the hard work you and your colleagues do to ensure that pupils at your school are able to access and engage with a high-quality music education. Your dedication to offering and delivering a broad and balanced curriculum is both welcomed and celebrated.’

Thank you to Mrs Kirby; our Music Co-ordinator for all things music at Parkhead

  • Children in Need Day

Fri 21 Oct 2022 Miss Bulman

‘Get ready for the great SPOTacular!'

This year, Children in Need is taking place on Friday 18 November 2022 and children are welcome to come to school in non-school uniform (encompassing something spotty to fit with the theme).  There is a suggested donation of £1.00 per child for this to be donated to this worthwhile charity.

School Councillors are busy planning and preparing some exciting fundraising challenges for the day, so keep your eyes peeled for more information!

  • School Photographs

Fri 21 Oct 2022 Miss Bulman

Shutterbugz Photography will be in school on Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 November 2022 to take individual and family group photographs of children in school.

All children should come to school in their school uniform on these days – there will be no PE sessions taking place.  Class Teachers will rearrange physical activities on other days that week.

If you have older or younger children who are not on roll at Parkhead, but you would like them to be part of a family group photo, you can arrive between 8.00am – 8.45am on either the Tuesday or the Thursday days to have this taken.  Please note that these sessions may be busy so please arrive promptly.

All photographs of siblings on roll at Parkhead and of individual pupils will be taken in school time.

Tuesdays – Nursery children will bring home a library book. They can keep this for the week and return the following Tuesday.

  • Football

Fri 14 Oct 2022 Miss Bulman

A huge well done to our Football Team who played at West Lane last night and won three matches whilst drawing one and narrowly losing one too. A fantastic achievement.   Mrs Thompson (who the children are now aptly naming Mrs Howe!) and Mrs Bailey attended the match with the team and were blown away by their enthusiasm, team work and resilience.  Thank you also to Mr Greener (Alfie’s Dad) for his support and assistance.

  • Community Pumpkin Trail

As Halloween falls on Monday 31 October 2022 which is a staff development day at Parkhead, SPLAT is setting our families a challenge in the form of a Community Pumpkin Trail.

Local businesses in Winlaton will be displaying a different pumpkin image (one of 13 decorated by each of our classes in school).  On Monday 31 October 2022, families are welcome to try and find all of the 13 pumpkin drawings and unscramble the letters on each one to make a word!

Entry forms will be issued to children next Friday and can be returned to school on Tuesday 1 November 2022.  All correct entries will be added together and winners will be drawn at random and will receive a prize!

  • SPLAT’s Coin War!

Fri 07 Oct 2022 Miss Bulman

Wow!  What a fantastic event this was!  Some classes were extremely competitive, and whilst having an awful lot of fun, a total of £702 was raised towards the development of the outdoor play area. Mrs Bailey has announced the winning class this morning as ‘Birch’ with an incredible 6018 coins!  Children in Birch have their thinking caps on to decide what they will spend their class jar amount on for a class treat!  Well done to everyone.
