  • Small Change Challenge

Fri 22 Jul 2022 Miss Bulman

    SPLAT Small Change Challenge

Do you have any loose change lying around? If so, keep a hold of it because….

    • 1,2,3,4 SPLAT declares a small change war!

In September, all classes at Parkhead will be named after a tree to reflect the outdoor learning philosophy and wonderful outdoor environment we have at school.  We have therefore decided to create a fun challenge to coincide with this

In a nutshell…….each class will be given an empty jar which has been labelled with their new class name.

The ‘aim of the game’ is to fill your class jar with as many 1p, 2p, 5p and 10p coins as you can!

You score a point for every coin that is added to the jar! The more coins you add, the more points you get!!

The class with the most points when the challenge is over will get to spend the contents of their jar on a little treat.

The money raised by the other classes will go directly to SPLAT to allow us to continue to support the installation of outdoor fixed play equipment.

The challenge will run throughout the whole of September and, of course, will begin the day we return from our summer break on Tuesday 6th.

So, get collecting all your loose change over the next 6 weeks to send in with your child and let’s see how much we can raise whilst having a little bit of fun across school.

  • National Online Safety Accreditation

Fri 22 Jul 2022 Miss Bulman

We are delighted to have successfully achieved the accreditation to become a National Online Safety Certified School. This is to certify that a whole school community approach in online safety is being undertaken at Parkhead through empowering its leaders, teachers, governors, all staff and parents/carers.

An effective community approach to online safety aims to protect and educate pupils in their safe use of the internet and technology, whilst enabling trusted adults with the essential information to identify online risks and escalate any incident where appropriate. A huge thank you to Mrs Miller; our Computing Lead, who has taken a lead role in the accreditation process.

  • Community Corner

Fri 15 Jul 2022 Miss Bulman

We are delighted to be opening our re-use, reduce, recycle initiative next week in the form of our very own dedicated community room space called ‘Community Corner’.  It is located down the Nursery path and is the first door that you come to on your right.

It is with thanks to funding received from the Gateshead Household Support Fund that we have been able to convert and refurbish this space for our school community use.

Opening times next week will be 8.15 – 9.15am and again from 2.45 – 3.45pm. You are welcome to call in to browse the wide selection of pre loved uniform items and take what you need.  There is also be a small food bank, which again, you can take from what you need.

At any point, should you be able to donate any of your child’s uniform items which they have outgrown, or you feel able to add an extra item to your weekly shopping to donate to our food bank, please just drop them in – all will be gratefully received.

  • Summer Fayre Fundraising!

Fri 15 Jul 2022 Miss Bulman

    WOW WOW WOW!

We are over the moon to reveal that our summer fayre raised a fantastic total of £1,860!

Thank you so much for everyone’s support in attending the fayre and making donations for the event. The grand total raised since we began fundraising at the turn of the year has reached a whopping £3,346, and will be put towards purchasing and installing new playground equipment in the form of a climbing frame for the children over the summer holidays. An absolutely fantastic start for Team SPLAT clearly showing the positive impact that we can have when we work together with the sole aim of ‘supporting Parkhead’s learners to achieve and thrive’.

If there are any local businesses who would like to make a contribution, however small, in an attempt to bring our summer fundraising total to £2,000 by the end of term we would be extremely grateful! Please share far and wide to all of your friends and family.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

    • Once you have collected your child/ren, you are welcome to stay for the fayre and enjoy the various stalls, rides and refreshments on offer.
    • If you are unable to collect your child to attend the fair, they will remain with a class teacher until the normal collection time of 3.15pm. Depending on the number of children that remain, there may be an opportunity for them to visit the fayre with the teacher.  You may therefore like to send some small change in to school with your child.
